An Egyptian designer innovates Arabic learning using legos to make it more fun
There are over 7000 languages in the world, one of them is Arabic. Arabic is widely used by muslims and also a lingua franca of millions of people all over the world. Anyhow, Arabic seems to draw less attention compared to when scientist, poets and philosophers used it, once. Moreover, there are people who questionably associate Arabic with terrorism. Its a concept of misunderstood and somehow affect the way people see Arabic. In fact, some people find it difficult to learn, too.

See our massive mock-up bundle here.
An Egyptian designer Ghada Wali wants to change that wrong perception by creating a project called “Let’s Play!”. Wali developed a typeface that ease foreign learners or young learners to build words using lego blocks. Let’s Play! allows users to access a pocketbook as a guidance to make out sound of the words. Additionally, it also show users the alphabetical words in their initial, medial and final forms.

In a word, the purpose of this project is to break the fear surrounding Arabic and to make more tolerance. Wali believes she can use graphic design to change the world. “My aim is to change the sphere of language, transform the educational experience in order to bring scripts and people closer together” Wali said. She wants to provide “endless possibilities” in playful fun way for anyone who’s eager to learn Arabic (more about this project).
